A Babies First Christmas

I’ve always enjoyed Christmas and the festive period but since having Amelia I’ve enjoyed it even more! There are so many ways of making a first Christmas and every year after really special.

This will be Amelia’s third Christmas which is crazy, she was just 4 months old for her first one and spent most of the day sleeping so I would say this was her second Christmas that she will be aware and able to enjoy.

So here are some tips and things to do for a babies first Christmas. It’s so lovely and Christmas is the perfect time to start some family traditions and carry on with old ones.

Start a Christmas advent countdown. Even though your babies small you could start an advent tradition of things to do on the day,a book advent or little chocolates if they are old enough or an elf on the shelf idea. Amelia’s had a Christmas Advent Box for the last two years filled with fun things for us to use throughout the month of December which is a tradition I’m going to carry on each year.

Get a personalised stocking/sack for your child. These day’s it is so so easy to get personalised items and the array of Christmas sacks and stockings is amazing. The Great Little Trading Company has some lovely ones. Amelia has a brown sack to put out for Father Christmas that I got her for her first Christmas and she’s now got my old stocking as I think it’s really lovely to be able to pass things down and carry on traditions.

Buy a Christmas outfit/Christmas jumper. I think having a Christmas jumper each year is a lovely little tradition to start. Amelia had Christmas onesie’s the first year and had a jumper last year and one this year. It’s also lovely to get a Christmas Outfit for Christmas day or any Christmas family get together’s or meals. There are so many lovely choices that won’t break the bank that can be used for the special occasion.

Make some Home-made Decorations. A babies first Christmas is the perfect time to make some decorations from hand prints, footprints and photos. You could make salt dough ornaments or hand print cards to send out to family. When children are little they sit still so why not get a fun Elf outfit or something to dress them in take some photos and they could also be put in cards to send to family and friends.

Those are just a few ideas of things you could do and start on a babies first Christmas and traditions you can start!

What traditions do you do at Christmas time?

Thanks for reading!xx

I love family Christmas traditions. I carried on ones from when I was younger, which has been really nice. I hope you have a lovely Christmas .
