Finally getting the chance to write up about Amelia’s Moana Birthday Party. Amelia began asking about her birthday a few months after her last one and so when she decided she wanted a Moana party my mind got planning. This was the first party where she wanted lots of friends to come so I knew it would be our first “big party”.
I knew straight away where I wanted to have the party the location was a really nice conservatory-esk space complete with astro turf and loads of windows. It was so light and airy and the ideal space for a children’s party. It fet like everyone had plenty of room. Then I got to planning with decorations, bits to have for the party and of course…food!
I always go a touch overboard with food and decorations to be honest but I’ve decided to just embrace it now and get fully stuck into the parties I throw.
With it being Moana themed I went along the lines of some Hawaiian inspired decorations as well as some actual Moana bits. I got so many amazing bits from Party Bags and Supplies including the party bags and balloons. Party Pieces had a huge incredible range of bits that I managed to get from there including the table skirts, danging flowers and the lei garlands. Other extras I got were from Amazon, The Disney Store and supermarkets.
For the children I thought at this age a bouncy castle would be a great hit, unfortunately I couldn’t get a Moana one but went for a princess one as I knew Amelia would be pretty chuffed with that. I set up a biscuit decorating station; baked some shell biscuits mixed up some water icing and got loads of sprinkles. This went down a treat and all the children at the party loved getting stuck into this and making a biscuit. I brought with us from home a few garden game bits we have and some teepees which went down a storm with the children; they loved munching their food in here.
I also set up a little photo booth corner with some props I got of Amazon and some inflatable palm trees. It was fun to see everyone get involved with this and just another addition to the party that was really reasonable.
Food wise I palmed off the cake making this year and my lovely friend Sarah made the birthday cake which looked and tasted incredible!!! The beautiful cupcakes were also made by a local baker- Saucy Sue’s Cupcakes who’s cupcakes are amazing, the two complimented each other so well!
This actually took quite a lot of pressure of the food for me and I wasn’t up until 2am making a cake like the last few years. Food wise I decided against making a tonne of sandwiches and went for nibbbles; cold pizza, chicken, fruit kebabs, popcorn, veggie sticks and dip, sausage rolls and crisps.
The sweet bits are always my favourite; I of course made brownies – for anyone who knows me would it even be an Alice party if brownies weren’t present? Along with those were dipped marshmallows, a sweet tray and this year with it being a Moana party I made some Heart of Tafiti inspired biscuits!
By the end of the 2 hours the children were hot, sweaty and on a bit of a sugar overload. Amelia had the best best party which is just the main thing and everyone that came seemed to have a really good time. I sent everyone home armed with leis, plenty of cake, party bags and the children got to choose a gorgeous bracelet made by Riptide Jewellery.
We were literally eating cake for a week but it was the best party and I’m so pleased I went all out and made it special for Amelia.
I’ll post where everything featured in the photos is from at the bottom of this post.
