Amelia’s Room- Toddler Bedroom

Back in January I mentioned that I was starting to get idea’s for Amelia’s toddler bedroom and did a blog post all about my ideas here. It is now finished and I’m so happy to be sharing this room with you all. It was a slow process getting all the bits then it all came together very quickly and I’m really happy with the outcome. It’s interesting to see that quite a lot of the ideas I had in my inspiration post have been carried forth into her actual finished room with a few changes. I had an image in my head of what I wanted this room to look like and it’s not exactly the same but I’m so pleased with how it looks.

It is a great sized room with a really big window so it’s a nice light and airy space which I like, it helps the room not feel so cluttered which I don’t think it looks at all but there is a lot of furniture and storage in the room which is necessary for the amount of things toddlers have; clothes, toys, books! I love the mix of the colours and patterns. Lots of shades of pink, yellow and a few reds and blues to change it up and the contrast of floral, spots and checks. It’s definitely my favourite room in the house right now.

I will let the photo’s speak for themselves and will note down where everything is from! I really hope you like it!

This otttoman toy box was my Mum’s and for a while it was in my room and it has been in the lounge with all of Amelia’s toys in but it made sense to put it up in her bedroom to keep all of her things together. My Mum covered re-covered it with fabric from IKEA and I love how it looks.

Ottoman Collage

Floral Boxes- Ikea

Checked Cushion- Ikea

‘A’ Cushion- George Asda

The boxes are great for organising her toys and when we are at home playing I can grab a box out of the ottoman and take it downstairs to keep it tidy. I bought the A cushion and I wasn’t sure whether to keep it in my own room but I think it finishes of this area of her room perfectly.

Hemnes Day Bed- IKEA

Butterfly Bedding- Next

Patchwork Quilt- IKEA

Bed Guard- Argos

I love this bed, after all of Amelia’s recent sleeping issues we skipped the toddler bed and just went straight for a single and it couldn’t have been a better choice. It has three huge draws underneath and it pulls out into a king size for if we have people to stay. We picked up this butterfly bedding last summer in the Next sale and it just completely fits the colour scheme. Another IKEA purchase was this gorgeous quilt. Again completely fits with the colour scheme and adds another print into the mix.

Striped Rug- H&M

Cube Unit- Argos

Patterned Storage Boxes- H&M

Suitcase & Teddy Bear- Cath Kidston

Personalised Giraffe- My 1st Years (Jellycat)

Night Light- IKEA

Searching for bits to go in Amelia’s bedroom introduced me to H&M Homeware. They have some really really lovely stuff and it’s really reasonably priced. This rug has a non slip back and was only Β£15! I love the whole cube box storage idea; I know Great Little Trading Company and IKEA to lots of them but I saw these boxes from H&M and just fell in love so did some measuring and found that the IKEA cube would be too big and this one from Argos was the perfect size. I got two boxes in each pattern and the other two are somewhere else although I’m still not sure about these four, its so hard to sort them out! They are a really great size and I love the fact they are wipe clean, such a bonus with toddlers!

DSCN0904I think having these bits on top just add a nice little touch. I wanted to put Amelia’s bows and headbands on here but they are in glass jars so decided against that for a few years and think these things are cute as a couple of them are personalised. The little trinket box was a gift so I’m not sure where that is from. This night light is great, it can run off the mains or without once charged up and changes colours!

Bookcase Collage

Bookcase- IKEA

Patterned Storage Boxes- H&M

Floral Topped Jars- Sainsbury’s

Amelia’s room is entirely furnished by IKEA pretty much but it is such great stuff and fantastic quality. Here are where the other two boxes and they just make the room look so great, I think these are my favourite storage of the room. The other three shelves are full of books, with the board books at the bottom where Amelia can reach. The top shelf has a few little trinkets on, photo albums and some glass mason jars with her bows and clips in. The floral topped ones were from Sainsbury’s and the other ones can be picked up from pretty much anywhere.

Desk Area Collage

Table & Chair – IKEA

Coloured Boxes- IKEA

Toy Storage- IKEA

Mice- Wilkinsons

Toy Car- Sainsbury’s

‘A’ Cushion- Asda

We have had this table a while and it’s been downstairs but I think it’s nice to have it up in her bedroom plus it’s so light I can move it downstairs if I need to. These little storage boxes again IKEA will eventually have her pencils and crayons in but for now I will hold off on that as my fear of colouring on the walls is just way too much. I was after something like this netted storage basket for ages and just couldn’t find the right one, I spotted this one in IKEA but it had a multicoloured lid that I just really didn’t like but I once I realised you could take it off I went with it. It stores all of her soft toys perfectly and I love the colour of it, as there are tones of red in the bedding and other bits! Amelia loves the mice I got them in the Wilkinson sale after Christmas and they move around constantly but if it was up to me they would sit here!

Wardrobe- IKEA

Personalised Box- My 1’st Years

This wardrobe fits perfectly with all of Amelia’s furniture, I especially love the trim across the top. It’s great you can put the shelves wherever you like and make it to fit out you want the wardrobe to be.

I have this gorgeous spotty personalised storage box from My 1st Years and a few of their boxes that come when you receive things from them. I have some left over fabric from the ottoman and I will eventually cover those to match. Another great little storage spot!

Teepee Collage

Teepee Tent- The Great Little Trading Company

Broccoli Toy- IKEA

Football Cushion- IKEA

Floral Cushion- IKEA

Bird Feeding Cushion- John Lewis

Amelia got this teepee for her first birthday and although we’ve used it I’ve been dying to get it up permanently so I love that it’s finally up. I’ve put a duvet in the bottom to make it a comfy little reading spot and Amelia loves to hide in there with her toys! The broccoli toy is a bit of a family joke as Amelia is obsessed with it and she requested the ball as everything is “a ball” she loves to throw and kick! I got this feeding cushion before Amelia was born and I’ve kept it as its still super comfy for Amelia to snuggle into.

Bedroom Decor Collage

Prints- Minted

Paper Garland- The Rainbow Paperie

These bits just complete Amelia’s room perfectly. I got the prints from the website Minted. They have so many to choose from but I think these look great together. The collage Amelia photo was done by my sister last year and I still think it’s brilliant, it is so unique and was done on one of my favourite photo’s of Amelia. This paper garland was the final touch to her bedroom. It was from the lovely The Rainbow Paperie, she did me a beautiful custom order and then with the help of my Dad we hung it on this pole of wood and it dangles just perfectly. Again the colours match the bedroom and I’m so so happy with it.

So that is it!! I really hope you love it as much as I do! It’s so nice finishing a room and feeling pleased with it. Amelia loves it too which is lovely to see.

Thanks for reading!xx

What a lovely room! I absolutely love the teepee tent and the toy box, I can’t wait to decorate Lizzy’ room once we move into a more permanent house (we’re renting at the moment) and I already know that I want to have a vintage floral theme!

Really like the colour scheme. My Caitlin would love it too. My biggest challenge at the moment is doing something with Ieuan’s room. He’s nearly 6 and his room is practically a box room which the bed fills. He’s obsessed with Spiderman but I’ve not much scope to be very creative other than a duvet cover! #mummymonday

  10. 27th April 2015 / 1:22 pm

Her rooms lovely, you’ve done such a good job furnishing it! I think I need you to come and sort out my house, haha! I’m in the middle of doing Osian’s room up but it’s quite small and can’t put too much up on the walls so it’s a bit of a task. I’m glad Amelia loves her new room xx

Wow I love this. I especially like the colour pops – yellow and red work really well with the pink and really give the room personality. I want a teepee like that to hide in in my room!

I love this sprinkles bedding, I was just having a look at it on the GLTC website and it’s good to see it in situ. Funnily enough I have been looking at this bed too so it’s a perfect combo! My daughter is about to move from a cot to a bed but I’m saving that until we move house in a few months time. x
