This is my final Bluestone post! This is part two of a more detailed look at our holiday you can read part one here and if your just after a quick post giving you some basic information on Bluestone take look here.
Yes that is Amelia in my shower!!
Wednesday morning we had a bit of a chilled morning in the lodge enjoying croissants from the bakery once again and then got ourselves sorted to head up to the Blue Lagoon for another swim. The Blue Lagoon is open to the public as well but there are allocated times just for Bluestone guests so we aimed for one of these. It was so warm as the sun was shining through the roof and we were in there for well over an hour. Once again we enjoyed the main pool, wave machine and the lazy river and the girls had more time in the nippers cove. We loved the Blue Lagoon! I love this photo of the girls lounging in the deck chairs!
After a swim we were all starving so headed to the Wild Wood Cafe. This is in the Adventure Centre up by the Circus Room soft play and from what we had seen it looked lovely however, our experience wasn’t that great. It is so nicely decorated with fairy lights winding round the huge tree and tree house gives it a Neverland kind of feel to it. We walked in and had to ask over the bar if they were serving food when the waiter just pointed toward a menu, we helped ourselves to a table and found high-chairs. The menu has lots on it at a reasonable prices. When we ordered the waiter’s attitude just gave off the impression that he couldn’t be bothered to be there and that we were an inconvenience which just gave us a bit of a rubbish feeling about the place. Our food came really quick and the portion sizes were really generous. We just felt quite disheartened by the ambience and atmosphere in the restaurant as felt they could do so much more with it and make it a really special place. The girls were so fascinated with all the twinkly lights! I think they have dinner and breakfast shows with characters and things so maybe they save themselves for that but this was probably our only low of the holiday!
We headed back to the lodge for the girls to have a sleep as they were both super tired and we got a chance to chill out!
Once the girls woke up we headed out for a walk around Bluestone. As we were so close to the village we were also really close the lake which we had a little walk round, we even saw some bunnies on the grass verge! It was nice to let the girls have a little toddle about and for us to enjoy the beautiful scenery Bluestone has to offer. Bluestone has a no car policy except for when loading and unloading your car which makes the whole place seem so peaceful and quiet. Everything is so well kept and super green! There are a few marked trails you can follow if you fancy a longer walk but as we didn’t have the buggies we just wondered around.
We finished our walk up by the little play park in the village. There is a lot of tunnels and bridges to walk over. Amber was so good at this Amelia wasn’t quite able to do it so we met them at the end then went for a little play in the park.I actually think the park could be bigger as there was only one swing but it was really lovely!
We had dinner in our lodge this evening as eating out each night does add up! The girls loved the lodge for the amount of space it had they could run around like absolute loons and gave us plenty of space for dancing!
Thursday we went to Folly Farm for the day which you can read all about in another post! We took our swimming stuff with us so we could squeeze in one last swim on our way back as we would already be up the top by the Blue Lagoon parking the car. We loved the Blue Lagoon and wanted to make the most of it and also popped into the Circus Room Soft play to tire the girls out!
Look at these two cuties dancing together in the changing rooms, they seriously loved one another’s company.
Thursday evening we used the take away service, we ordered it when we were in the soft play so we had time to walk down get settled back into the lodge and our food promptly arrived. To be honest we weren’t that impressed with the food but it did the job on a night. The girls were tired and taking them out to eat wouldn’t have ended well and the lasagne they had was pretty tasty. They were both so so tired this evening after another busy busy day!
Today was the day we had to leave Bluestone which we were really sad about. We felt like we could have definitely had a couple more days to get everything we wanted to do done! We were pretty much non-stop throughout our stay as we really wanted to make the most of our trip. We got ourselves packed and had a quick check around to make sure we hadn’t left anything. A 10am check out comes around really quickly and we definitely were longer than that. Apparently the key cards to unlock your lodge door are time sensitive so if you are loading your car up and it’s after check out time make sure you leave your door open! You can still use the facilities. We went up to the soft play for one last run around in the hope of tiring the girls out before our long journey home! I will be posting a top tips on long car journeys so keep an eye out for that one. I definitely miss looking over and seeing these two monkeys!
We had the best stay at Bluestone and would really love to go back again. It caters for all ages and there is something for everyone. My positive is pretty much entirely positive and I think Bluestone are doing an excellent job and can’t wait to see what they have planned for the future and hope we get to go back again.
If your considering going I really would urge you too as we had a lovely time.
Thanks for having us Bluestone!!
