I honestly can’t believe that Camp Bestival 2017 is over, it comes and goes so fast but not without it being a fantastic weekend. Camp Bestival 2017 was slightly different this year in that it was our first rainy/muddy experience of the festival.
I’d been checking the forecast alllll week and the rain just wasn’t shifting for the weekend so Friday afternoon we coated, layered and wellied up and headed to Lulworth Castle for our first day of Camp Bestival 2017. We got there in great time and got into the festival- even though a slightly longer walk due to a different layout than the last couple of years.
As soon as you spot the Big Top tent and hear the background noise of the festival it always get’s me excited! We spotted this years giant disco ball which was so cool and the infamous festival sign.
We then made our way through to the Lower Kids Garden. Amelia was so excited to get onto the carousel and it kicked off the festival weekend perfectly. We then enjoyed the insect circus with a milkshake. Last year Amelia got stuck into Art Town so this year as soon as she saw it she wanted to get painting; I love this tent at the festival. It’s such a great space for kids to get creative and do something they enjoy.
Over dinnertime we got our first rain for the weekend; heavy showers and epic winds are a hard mix! We got ourselves into the Caravanserai. This is one of my favourite sections of Camp Bestival and this year it was even bigger; with dodgems to sit in, old school mini houses and carvan’s to jump into all complete music and circus tricks. Again the rain started but we managed to get ourselves undercover to enjoy a gin and some snacks.
The vibe in the Caravanserai was amazing; everyone was having such a good time despite the weather. There was a folky/country band playing and everyone was jigging and dancing around. Including Amelia who was going crazy! It was so fun and just one of the memories that will always be Camp Bestival 2017.
The 90’s child in me was keen to hear All Saints and they sang all our faves whilst Amelia had a good dance around. We heard half of Mark Ronson’s set which was brilliant before heading back to the car. We were all done and ready to get home for some sleep. Only at Camp Bestival can you be dancing to folk music, listen to All Saints and Mark Ronson all within a couple hours.
A great day to kick off Camp Bestival 2017!
