Christmas Advent Box

I love the whole idea of making the build up to Christmas as exciting as possible so the idea of a Christmas advent box full of treats to enjoy in the advent period is right up my street. Creating a Christmas Advent Box means I can do all of that and an excuse to make a cute little Christmas hamper. It is a very similar idea to Christmas Eve boxes but just gives Amelia a little bit longer in her Christmas jammies, sipping hot chocolate out of her mug reading festival tales!

Christmas Countdown Advent Box Feature

The idea is that on the 1st of December I will give Amelia this box and then Christmas fun can really begin! I did one of these for Amelia last year and it went down so well, it was an excuse to buy some Christmas books and some things for us to enjoy throughout December. You could fill it with crafty things, Christmas films, books, toys a little festive bucket list suited to the age of your child.

Here is what’s inside Amelia’s in case you wanted any idea for something similar;

Countdown Box 2

Peppa Pig Sticker Book – Amazon

Curious George Christmas Countdown Book- Amazon

Santa’s Busy Night Book – Lidl

Personalised The Snowman & The Snowdog – Penwizard

The Snowman & The Snowdog DVD’s – Amazon

The Snowman Soft Toy – Amazon

I really want to expand Amelia’a seasonal book collection so giving them to her like this is a fun way to introduce them. Amelia loves stickers and colouring so the sticker activity book will go down well. Amelia’s personalised Snowman book is so lovely I wanted to get some other bits to match it.

Countdown Box 4

Santa Stop Sign – Trago Mills

Glittery A Tag – Matalan

Christmas Tree Suncatcher – Hobby Craft

Cupcake Cases & Toppers Set- Matalan

My Mum picked up this cute sign when she was in Cornwall recently and I think it’s super cute especially as it’s personalised. The ‘A’ gift tag I thought could actually be used to go on the tree but was mainly for decorating the box! We have loads of crafts lined up this Christmas including some fab ones from Baker Ross but I saw this one and thought Amelia would really enjoy it. Like crafts I’ve got lots of themed baking ideas but I love these little toppers keeping decorating nice and easy for children.

Countdown Box 1

Christmas Bunny Soft Toy – Jojo Maman Bebe

Felt Gingerbread Man Decoration – Matalan

Treats for Santa Set – Matalan

Christmas Fairy Mug – Matalan

As you can tell I’m loving all that Matalan has to offer this year for Christmas.  So many reasonably priced lovely items. I couldn’t resist the Santa plate and Milk bottle for Amelia to leave out on Christmas eve and everyone needs a Christmas mug for hot chocolate. I thought it would be really lovely if Amelia chose a new decoration for the tree each year and this year she chose this cute Gingerbread man.

Countdown Box 3

Gingerbread Christmas Jumper – Matalan

Tutu Skirt – TK Maxx

Peppa Pig Pyjama Set- Sainsbury’s

Amelia had a very similar Peppa Pig set from Sainsbury’s last year that I loved as they came with the grippy slipper socks so when I saw these I had to get them. There are lots of nice Christmas jumpers around but some of them are actually quite pricey for something that won’t be worn that much so I thought this one from Matalan was really sweet. I actually bought a Christmas dress in the Jojo Maman Bebe sale last year but I thought this tulle tutu skirt would be nice and festive in the build up…if Amelia will wear it!

That’s the finished box. It also has an advent calendar in. I love the idea of putting a bucket list in but that to Amelia wouldn’t really mean anything but I have lots of fun ideas planned that I’m sure I will be sharing along the way!

Do you do a Christmas Eve box, Advent Box or anything similar?

Thanks for reading!xx

I’m so excited, I saw you do this last year but at just nine months, Little Miss was a bit young so we’re doing this for the first time this year. Good to get some last minute ideas! I love the Matalan plate and milk bottle – I don’t think there’s a Matalan near us, which is a shame. I had no idea they sold such lovely stuff.

This is such a brilliant idea! I may start one for Rosalie if I’ve still got time. Off to Matalan I go. Xx

It looks great, I’m sure Amelia will love it! I like the idea of doing a countdown box in the run up to Christmas instead of just on Christmas Eve so items will last a big longer 🙂 xx

Arrr what a lovely idea! This year I am stocking up with Christmas activities for the children to do during the week running up to Christmas. This year the break up from school a week before Christmas day so I want to be prepared with plenty of activities x #Love2Blog

Love this! It’s definitely something I’d like to do with Toby, maybe next year when he’s nearly 2 1/2 so can appreciate it a bit more. I will do him a Christmas Eve box again this year with pj’s, socks, a book and a little treat xx

Another fantastic Christmas inspired box! You’ve included some really fab items which will then link great to the Christmas Eve box that you’ve got together.

This year we have a personalised felt Christmas Tree shaped advent calendar (which we plan to use for many years to come), I’m going to fill each of the 24 pockets with a dinosaur wax crayon that Rowan can open each day. Then by the end of it he’ll have a full box of them to use.

Rowan’s Christmas Eve box is nearly finished and it’ll include some new pyjamas, a dressing gown, new slippers (which are the last thing being delivered), a few Christmas books, a Lush Christmas Bath Bomb, a personalised plate to Santa and Rudolph that we can put their goodies on. A soft toy Santa and ingredients in a jar to make Christmas Eve cookies.

    Can’t wait!!!

I’m loving this idea, such a nice way to prepare and build up the excitement for Christmas.
We won’t be doing anything like this this year as Aria is only 9 months old at the moment so won’t understand it but it is definitely something that I would do in the future.
We have that same Christmas jumper from Matalan, I’ve just featured it in my latest post 🙂

Aww this is lovely. I hadn’t thought about doing it as an advent box. We have a Christmas Eve box which we love. Hubby is Danish so they normally do gifts on the 24th so a Christmas Eve box is a nod to that X

  10. 30th November 2015 / 1:57 am

Oh, this is such a sweet idea. I’d never even heard of a Christmas eve box until this year. I do use a hand made advent calendar and I like the idea of doing a box as well.x

  11. 30th November 2015 / 3:03 pm

This is a great box and I think a much better idea than the Christmas eve boxes which will only get used for that evening. At least you have the full month to get reading and using jammies etc. Lovely box x

  12. 30th November 2015 / 5:07 pm

Love this, i need to do our Christmas eve box. My problem with a whole month box is he would rip it all open on the first day kind of spoiling it!

  13. 30th November 2015 / 9:55 pm

Wow you’ve got some gorgeous still in her Christmas basket. I wanted to but Lamb that santa plate from maternal, but we don’t have much storage and it would guaranteed to be broken by next year, so I’m just going to use a normal plate! xx

I will be doing a Christmas Eve box for my girls this year. I only started 2 years ago, I love the idea. Gets them super excited for Christmas morning x

Looks so lovely Alice I bet Amelia loved it. I do a Christmas eve basket but I’m considering doing a little basket of goodies similar to this to give Bella on Sunday when we go choose our Christmas tree and put the decorations up. Will put her Christmas pjs, jumper and some festive books in it so she can use them all month and save back one book, a Christmas dvd and a second set of pjs that I bought by accident to give her on Christmas eve! 😀 xxxx

What a lovely idea and so much better than a Christmas Eve box that only gets used the once. I may be adopting the idea next year 🙂 x
