As much as it’s great going to new places far and wide sometimes there are some pretty incredible places on your doorstep. Dorset is home to the Jurassic coast, countryside and so many gorgeous beaches that it would be silly if we didn’t explore. This weekend we went to Kimmeridge Bay which is absolutely stunning. I’m already looking forward to our next visit.
It was actually a suggestion of my Dad’s to go here so myself, Amelia, Mum, Dad and the dog all bundled on coats/scarves and headed off. As you park up you can see the incredible views of the bay and the sun even came out for us. We walked down toward the beach which isn’t our usual sandy beach but this stony beach is fab, full of huge limestone ledges that reach out into the sea which are so much fun to walk over. Kimmerdige is renowned for rock pooling and a great place to find fossils.
Amelia was straight into climbing over the rocks and loved walking out on the flat ledges. The cliffs just look incredible and timing climbing over the rocks with the waves was lots of fun!
As we made our way round the bay there are some sandy parts to the beach and there is so many different stones which kept Amelia entertained. As we kept going round we were heading for the waterfall which I was so excited to get to! Amelia asked to go in it and I can imagine in the summer it would be so much fun to do so.
I would definitely recommend a little trip to Kimmeridge, Amelia also found her first fossil which was pretty cool! I love these photos I got from our trip, the only issue was that the sun was quite low so the glare was quite harsh, that’s why I had to pop the one of the two of us by the waterfall in black and white, but I really love how it’s come out.
