“In the depths of Winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
I found this quote just after an afternoon at the beach in 5 degree weather with a very cold wind! The sun was shining and the sky was clear it was as stunning as ever. I go on all the time about the beach being my favourite place even in the colder months and this has finally made me realise why.
(-Prepare for beach spam…again!)
Going to the beach during the Winter is me clinging onto that little bit of Summer. I don’t mind the cold but I am definitely more of a lover of the warmer weather. We are so fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the world and have so many local beaches but Sandbanks is my home from home. If my head needs clearing that’s where I’ll head even if it’s just to drive round the peninsula, I can always count on it being the perfect place for a walk or a run about with Amelia and I hope she grows to love it as much as I do.
I parked in a different place to usual and we headed to the end of the beach where the bays are calmer and it’s a bit more secluded. We actually had the place to ourselves apart from a few passers by for an entire hour which makes a change to what it’s like during the Summer.
Amelia ran around like the little loon she is chasing after Archie and insisting on holding his leads. She is so bossy with the dog constantly telling him to “sit” or “good boy” or “come back Archie”. I think she thinks because she’s bigger than him she can boss him about, very funny to watch!
In classic Amelia style whilst I was trying to get some shots on my phone of us gallivanting about the beach I managed to capture a very special moment that Amelia shouted “A cuddie Mummy” (cuddle) to which I replied of course come here and the little monkey came charging and hurled handfuls of sand at me!! I couldn’t help but laugh then obviously told her that we don’t throw sand!!
The sun was setting whilst we were there, crazy how early it sets in the Winter and what better place to have view of it! Looking over to Studland and Old Harry’s Rocks the water was blue and the sky was red, stunning!
I feel like I could have written this quote myself (if I was a philosophy wizz), it totally resonates with me and explains completely how I feel.
Running in the sunshine is just as fun in the Winter.
How to you hold onto Summer during this freezing weather?!
Thanks for reading!xx
