Today I’m going to be sharing another seasonal craft with you; heart potato stamping. This is great for valentines crafting or just if you like hearts! You only need minimal supplies for this craft and it’s great for little ones.
You Will Need:
- Heart Cookie Cutter
The best way to make your shaped potato stamper is to cut your potato in half then press a cookie cutter into the potato. Using a sharp knife cut up to the cutter, this will make the heart shape nice and easy and you should be able to pull out the cutter leaving your shape behind.
I cut out a couple of potatoes for Amelia so she could use a few different colours. We squirted some paint onto plates and I gave her some brushes in case she wanted paint onto the stamps. If your potato is a little wet just get a paper towel on it to dry it off a little. We have big roll of paper which is great for something like this as you can cut a nice long strip off and let them go wild.
Amelia got straight in with the stamping and was excited to see the hearts appear all over the page. We used some valentinesy colours; red, pink and purple which made it look really good.
Our finished heart stamping picture looked fab. Rather than using a big sheet you could use A4 paper/card or use the idea for individual valentine cards. The idea is simple but looks very effective and something that toddlers-preschoolers will be able to do.
It was nice and simple to set up and the clean up was minimal so this is a good one if you only have a little time to fill.
Let me know if you try this one out!
