Everyone knows the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Amelia loves it and can pretty much recite it now as it’s one we read often. We were sent some of the brand new Eric Carle Very Hungry Caterpillar Craft kits to test out. As soon as we got them Amelia was asking when can we do the caterpillar crafts!
We started with the Super Dough Model Kit. I was expecting the dough to feel really hard but it was a very light consistency and really easy to mould which was great for Amelia! With a bit of help she was able to roll the balls in the varying colours. I made the smaller bits then we put it all together to complete our Very Hungry Caterpillar. Amelia was really pleased with the outcome. The instructions were nice and simple to follow so older children could probably crack on with this one by themselves. The dough if left out does set hard but you can remould it which is great!
We also had the Color and Construct 3D characters. These were great as each character is packaged separately with bits to colours, put together and stick on. Amelia got stuck in with assembling the characters and choosing which colours she was going to use. There was foam shapes, gems and feathers to stick on as well adding in a little extra touch that little ones love. Amelia was really pleased with her finished characters and we’ve got a couple saved for a rainy day!
There is a range of other craft kits including sowing and other dough characters to make. I think these crafts would work so well in with a school topic on The Hungry Caterpillar or if you have a little one who loves the book it would be a nice addition to have the craft kits.
Thanks for reading!xx
