On Saturday we had a lovely day out with some friends to Kingston Maurward Gardens & Animal Park. It is a place I have never been to before and it was such a lovely surprise. We’ve been trying to explore more places local to us and Kingston Maurward is around 30 minutes away.
There is a lovely little farm which was perfect for the girls to look around. It’s all spaced out in winding grassed paths that lead you round to all the animals. It was really quiet but I could imagine even if it was busy you wouldn’t necessarily notice as there is so much space. Amelia loved all the animals, saying what they were and making all the animal noises. We bought some goat and sheep food on the way in and the girls gave that a go. It was great as they could run around and enjoy themselves and always be in sight.
In all their running around the girls ran to the little park. It is only small but the perfect addition.
The girls spent ages driving the tractor and playing peepo popping up and down to us. They went up onto the climbing frame bit and spent far to long running backwards and forwards swapping sides on the bridge. It is just the best thing hearing their giggling and screaming. They even ran across the bridge holding hands and went down the slide together, so cute!
There are lots of park benches and space for picnics if you decide to have your lunch in the Animal Park of Kingston Maurward or there are numerous spots by the Gardens and lake but that would be a bit risky with toddlers who don’t always like to listen.
After lunch we decided to walk through the gardens. There are a couple of different routes you can take and we were absolutely stunned by how beautiful they are. You can see how well looked after they are and they are just stunning. Once you walk through the walled gardens you come out to Kingston Maurward house and there’s a huge lawn that runs down to the lake. You can do a full loop and end back at the farm but it was a little far for the girls to walk so we just enjoyed running in and out of the secret garden paths and running away from the not so friendly geese!
Apologies for all of the photo’s they were just to beautiful not to share.
Amelia and her little friend Amber were having the best time running in and out of the tree’s cuddling them and hiding behind them and jumping out. It is such a beautiful space that I can’t wait to go to again, my parent’s would love it.
We were so lucky that the sun came out which made it an even more amazing spot. Under two’s are free, adults are £6 and children are £4 but it’s definitely worth the money. We were there from around 10 until 2:30 and the girls were both exhausted when we left. Amelia was asleep in the car seat before we even pulled away. We did make sure we had time for an ice cream before we left! You can even spy Amelia’s grass and strawberry stains in this photo, signs of a good day right?!
We had an absolutely fab day and I can definitely see us going back there again. Would highly recommend Kingston Maurward if it’s a nearby place for you.
