After going to Kingston Maurward for the first time the other week we were invited back to come to their Open Day and Country Fair and I’m really pleased we went.
Since Amelia’s been walking finding local events and days out is such a a key part to our routine plus its lovely to explore new places. We went to Kingston Maurward a few weeks back and going this weekend was like going to a completely different place, the atmosphere was totally different but still a lovely day. The first time we went it was so quiet, we basically had the park to ourselves but as this was an Open Day/Country Fair I expected it to be busier than that and it really was!
We went to the Animal Park end of Kingston Mauward first and Amelia loved looking at the animals. She literally had conversations with each one and even said “bye, see you” to each animal when we walked off. So cute! We were not dressed for the weather, the forecast said it was going to be CLOUDY and it was pretty sunny at times so we stripped off our jumpers and carried on looking around. The main grass area by the animals had lots of different stands, a live radio broadcasting, children’s entertainment, face-painting, a little soft play/bouncy castle area and times to pet and meet the animals.
I was really looking forward to taking my parents through the gardens as I knew that they would love it, we actually explored some different parts to last time and it’s so stunning there. You can just see how well kept it is and all the hidden garden aspects are so lovely.
There were loads of stalls behind the house and live music at the bottom of the lawn in-front of the lake. We ate our picnic in the sunshine listening to some great live music! It honestly felt like a totally different place with it having more people there, but it wasn’t too busy that you couldn’t move or anything! There were more stalls and food stands on the fields next to the house, dog shows and a show ring where they were doing bird demonstrations. As it was an Open Day and Kingston Maurward is a college there was places to learn and find out about the courses and learning opportunities they offer.
I love that they teamed the two days up and you could really see that they had gone all out to make it a family fun day as well. I was so pleased to show my Mum and Dad to a spot they had never been to and they loved it. We had a really great day and will definitely be a date for next years diary, but I’m sure we will be back before then!
