Masking Tape Painting

I’ve got another super easy painting activity/craft for you today!

What I love about this one is that you can actually make something that looks like what it is supposed to out of your toddlers art. Amelia’s painting as I’ve mentioned before is pretty much testing out what the brush can do and getting as much paint onto the paper as possible so this idea meant she could do that but end up with some fun art at the end!

All you need is masking tape!

So I kept mine pretty simple but if your up to the challenge you could pretty much do any design you wanted to. Just mask up the bits you don’t want to be painted. I went for an ‘A’ some lines a flower and some stars! Once you have done that you are ready to go!

I tried really hard this time to explain to Amelia that she didn’t need that much paint but she wasn’t having any of it! As usual it was a tonne of paint being painting and dabbed around the paper but she really enjoys it which is the main thing. Her hand even got a little paint then a little frown as she pondered where the paint had come from…ah toddlers!

Once your all painted its time to wait for them to dry and then peel off your masking tape. A few of mine did take some paper with them in some places but I think this kind of adds to the feel of the art but I would maybe try and find a way round this in the future. I love how they came out, it’s nice to have some recognisable painting and Amelia was pretty impressed with how they looked too!

I think the ‘A’s are my favourite and then the striped one as I think that one looks most effective! Would love to use this idea for a themed/seasonal card or something for Amelia to give out. Lots of different ways it could be adapted for future ideas!

Thanks for reading!xx

This is a great idea 🙂 I’m always on the look out for quick easy crafts for little ones. My favourite is also the letters I can see me using this with my Monkey. Thanks for sharing 🙂 #KidsCorner

With slightly older children you can use this technique to make a birch tree painting. Use the tapes in strips and then paint blue sky or forest overtop. Once you pull up the tape strips you can use markers or crayons to make the birch tree markings 🙂

great idea Alice, might give this ago with the girls names as it will also help with the spellings and letters they’ve been working on recently, thanks for the idea and sharing on #kidscorner x
