We have recently returned from a fantastic week away. We spent the first part of the holiday in North Devon at the beautiful Pickwell Manor.

Pickwell Manor is set in a little village called Georgeham near to Croyde, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe and with the coast in view and surrounded by beautiful countryside it really is the perfect destination to holiday. Pickwell is set amongst six acres of grounds and has 8 self catered apartments in varying sizes to choose from.
As soon as I arrived I spotted the picture perfect manor, it really is as stunning as it looks in the photos I just knew we were going to have the best few days. We were greeted and shown to our apartment with a quick tour of where everything was. The apartment was full of everything we would need for the week; a full kitchen including children’s plates, cups and cutlery and comfy beds that looked ready to be slept in. All the extra touches of decor and covering absolutely everything we could need including a backpack full of tupperware to use for the weeks picnics!
Our apartment was beautiful. We stayed in the Serenity apartment it was so spacious and full of light. I knew it was going to be somewhere I would enjoy spending time. Looking out of the windows was my favourite as the views are stunning!
Once we had unpacked and got ourselves settled we went for a little explore of the grounds. We were shown by the eldest lovely daughter of the family who manage Pickwell. She gave us the grand tour of all the places Amelia would love whilst we were here including Pirate Island, the woods complete with tyre/horse swings, balance beams, tennis courts, croquet/chess garden games, the beautiful views and the all important games room. The games room was incredible a playroom I think Amelia would love to have at home. Full of toys, board games, books, dressing up, den building supplies, a treasure hunt map (that takes you round the grounds), table tennis and a football table all of which we enjoyed throughout our stay it was an incredible addition.
I think the reason that Pickwell get it so right is because it is owned and run by three lovely families. They know what parents require and crave whilst on holiday allowing them to have a good time but have everything they need as we all know you can’t pack light with kids!
You could spend days just at the manor enjoying what the grounds have to offer. From running through the bluebells, treasure hunting, croqueting on the lawn and playing pirates on treasure island we were never stuck for something to do.
From having suggestions of things we could do and places to go Pickwell gave us a real home away from home experience. We actually ended up spending a bit of time with the family that manage the site who were such lovely people, Amelia instantly befriended their girls!
I would recommend Pickwell Manor to any families looking to head to Devon and want somewhere that is more than just a place to sleep.
