Preparing for Winter Colds | Vicks Sweet Dreams Humidifier

Vicks Sweet Dreams Humidifier

We were recently sent the Vicks SweetDreams Cool Mist Humidifier to test out and we really got to test it out as Amelia did suffer a few weeks back with a cough and a cold.

Unfortunately it seems when Amelia gets a cold it always ends with a cough that sometimes lingers for ages before fully clearing up always much worse at bed time. There is nothing worse than your little ones being ill especially when you just want them to get some rest and hopefully feel better after a good nights sleep and the humidifier is designed to “temporarily relieve coughs and congestion for better breathing and a more comfortable sleep.”

I find Amelia just needs to be able to get off to sleep and then is usually okay so having the cool mist humidifier on before she goes to bed and then whilst she’s drifting off to sleep has worked really well. The humidifier can be used without a pad but you can also use it with either of the Vicks VapoPads. We have been using the rosemary and lavender scented pad and that really helps clear the air making it clearing and breathable for older children there is also a methanol pad. Both aromas provide up to eight hours of decongesting vapors.

The humidifier is translucent so you can see how much water you have left inside, it holds up to 3.8 litres of water and it can be used for 24hours. You do need to empty the water after the 24hours so I just refilled it each night before use as we never used it for that long. I found having it on a higher setting about 30minutes before Amelia came up to bed and then turning it down slightly whilst she was getting off to sleep was enough as it does give off a slight noise (I mean really slight) whilst it’s on which my curious toddler just had to get up to see what it was a few times!

Labelled Vicks

Another reason for Amelia to want to go and look at the humidifier was to put the “lights on” as she refers to it. On the top of the Vicks humidifier is a projector. This is a really nice added bonus especially as the machine is quite big it gives it more of a special purpose. This can be switched on and off easily and you can flick between three different themes which then slowly change into a further three images. There is a starry night, the sea and the safari option having loads of images Amelia loves to see especially the under sea one! The projector can be used on it’s own without the humidifier running.

Overall this is has been a really great product and one I will stock up on the VapoPads for so that whenever Amelia is unwell I can pop this on to help her out. I think anything you can do to help your children when they are unwell you will try and this is one of those products that you can re-use and re-use again!

Thanks for reading!xx

What a brilliant product! My daughter has had constant colds since starting nursery and they do bother her most when she’s trying to sleep. I have often thought about getting one of those plugin vapour things but this looks much better and I love the projector too! 🙂 xx

This looks great… I can see how useful it would be for relieving night time coughs.

This is absolutely perfect. We need one of these for Evie’s room. I never knew that they did small ones. We always had a really, really big one and it was so annoying to have to put it away everyday so Evie could roam safely. I love this! 😀 xx #lovetoblog

What a handy product to have in the house. We’ve not used a humidifier before so this looks like a great alternative to the plug-ins that we use at the moment. Good review, thanks for sharing

This looks like such a useful gadget, Archie is just like Amelia it sticks on his chest for ages after a cold has hit. The projector is super cool too xx

I read about this on another blog recently. By the sounds of it it must help a lot. My little lady has a constant stuffy nose. I don’t know whether it’s from teething or not because she always has red cheeks but I might give this a go.

What a fab product!! These things can be so ugly normally, but to have the light projection makes it so much nicer! I’ll have to invest in one for lamb xx

What a fantastic product, I NEEDED this when my twins were babies as they got colds and coughs so much. This would have helped them so much. I love that they put the projector in it too. Very soothing.

Many common polishes will eat away at the varnish or affect the violin acoustics.
half quart of water for a room splash or use in a
humidifier, or weaken to the proper level for your youngster’s
age if utilizing topically. Once you realize just how efficient they are, you won.
